AT WAKGAKUS

Labour Day in Wanpanui passed ofE very successfully yesterday both as regards weather and as re<r<m!s attractions. Tho sports on Cook's Gardens were the best which havo boon seen here for a long time, and wove greatly enjoyed by a. very large crowd. Castlecliff, rapidly growing in popularity, was visited by thousands, who were carried by train and cars. Both means of conveyance were utilised to the utmost. The Waverley races also received their quota of spectators from Wanganui, the special trains being well filled. The fixtures mentioned are dealt with in other parts of this issue.
