HIS MAJESTY'S VETERANS.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE

(Per Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, October 25

The annual conference of delegates to the Royal N-ew Zealand Association of His Majesty's Veterans was held in Wellington to-day. The following delegates were present:—Major Lomax (Wanganui) in the chair, Captain R. C Hamerton, Captain N. Tregear (Taranaki), ■Messrs. J. W. Revill, R. Tingey and W. Christie (Wellington), J. Capper ami H. Walton (Masterton). Harden (Hawerr, and County), D. McKeller (Gisborne), and F. Stidolph (Manawatu) secretary. The president (Lord Islington) forwarded an apology for absence. It was decided to request King George, (the Patron of the Association) to permit all members who had fought in engagements dating back thirty-five yearn to wear the Victoria Cross on tho left breast.

The Veterans Pensions' Bill now beforo Parliament was discusser!. Tho following motion was carried unanimously:—"That the Prime Minister ho informed that it is the unanimous opinion of tho delegates of all affiliated branches of tho Association in New ZeaInnd that tho present Military Pension: Bill does not meet tho wishes of tho majority of the veterans, as a general pension, irrespective of income and property qualifications, is tho only recognition of past services acceptable by veterans who fought for their country half ft century ago." The following officers were elected :—■ Vice-president of central committee* Major Lomax (Wanganui); secretary and treasurer, I\ Stidolph (Manawatu); auditor, Captain Hammerton (Taranaki); trustee, R. Tingey (Wellington) ; standing committee, J. W. RevUl and R. Tingey (Wellington), and H. Walton (Masterton).

It was decided to send a letter to the president (Lord Islington) congratulating him on his promotion in India and at the same time regretting his departure from the Dominion.
