THE MARTON DAM.
REASSURING NEWS
(By our Traveiling Reporter.) MARTON, Oct. 26. Mr I*aing Meason is to meet the Borough Council on Wednesday evening in respect to the damage caused by the bursting of tho new reservoir, reported! fully in Saturday's issue of the " Chronicle." There is, however, no danger of a shortage of water. The pipes are to bo connected forthwith with the old dam. so that there will be ample water for the requirements of the boroughi until the repairs to the new reservoir, are eifected.
The Wanganui Railway Departmental officers telegraphed the Borough Council to-day as to the probability of engines being supplied with water at Marton Junction, and a most reassuring message was sent back in reply. There appears to be no danger of railway requirements being denied; in fact, there appears at present to be 'sufficient water to meet all demands.
