A DISPUTED TENDER.
(Per I'ress Association.)
DLNEDIN, Oct. 23
A meeting of Technical School managers was held to-day to consider the position which has arisen with reference to tho contract for the new building. Tho Board recently accepted a tender for £30,099 for the erection of tho new school, and rejected a tender for £30.059. Subsequently, the question firoso .as to whether the meeting was properly constituted, and legal advice was sought on this point. At to-day's meeting legal opinion was received from Mr W. C. MacGregor and Mr J. F. Woodhouse, who expressed the view that
the meeting at which the tender was
| accepted was illegal on the ground that I one member at the meeting had forfeited j his scat, owing to non-attendance at i previous meetings, and another mana- ! ger did not receive notice of the meeting. Consequently, they advised that : tho acceptance of the tender was not binding on the Board. It was moved ' that tho lowest tender, that of McLellan, bo accented, but an amendment ; wiis carried referring the matter to a ■ of four, to report at the ; next meeting.
