Mr and Mrs J. C. Campbell, who have been on an extended tour, of the Old • Country, returned to Wanganui last evening.
A London cablo announces the death of Sir George L. Lewis, the famous lawyer. \
Mr Schilsky, examiner for Trinity College of Music, has awarded the Governor's medal to Miss Alison Mary Tucker, who was adjudged to be tho best candidate in the senior division for practical work in New Zealand for fcho year.
Mrs Okey, mother of the M.P. for Taranaki. died yesterday at the ago of Bli. She was born in Gloucestershire and had resided in New Plymouth since 18.57. Her husband predeceased hei1 two years. Deceased, during tiio Maori war, refused to obey the ordeTs of tho military authorities to leave with all women for Nelson, hiding in tht> bush so as to stay with her husband. The authorities sent no women awaynfterwards.. She leaves four sons and two daughters.
