Wo regret to record the death of Mr ■Owen McKittrick; of Westmere (Wan-i----ganui), who passed away at a private hospital at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the advanced age of 75. Tho deceased, who had been ailing for some time, calno to New Zealand in tho early sixties, and after many business and laobmv trials on the West Coast of tho South Islad came to tho North Island about 33 years ago, and set up ho.telkeeping, commencing at Turakina before tho railway lino was through to Wanganui. Subsequently, he removed to the Patea district, where he lived for many years, later reading at Bulls, Itangitikei and at AshAurst, near Palmerston, finally settling at Westmere. Tho late Mr 'McKittrick was widely known and highly respected, and tho news of his death will be received with keen regret by a large circle of friends. Ho leaves a widow, two sons (Mr John McKittrick, of the Defence Office, Wellington, and Mr Win. McKittrick, of Wanganui) and a daughter (Mrs A. Keith, of Longburn) to mourn their loss. His eldest son, James, predeceased him 18 months ago, when at tho timo postmaster at Karamea. The funeral, which will bo of a priva-to nature, will tajvo place at Turakina, leaving tho Catholic Church there for tho oemeterv at 10 a-.m. on Saturday.
