ANNUAt DINTvER.
The annual dinner of the Wangauui Kdwiiig Club, wliich /took place< last night, was an entirely satisfactory function". In' the absence of the president, Mr. C. J. Wray, tho chair was occupied by Mr. Lloyd Jones, the popular viee-pyesideut.. Mr. ,C V. Powell represented the New Zealand Rowing Association,, /md..the .TJniojh and Aramoho sheds were well represented. .
The following toast list was eiithiisiastioally 'honoured i1 — "The King," pro,posed by the chairman ; "The. New Zealand Roving Association," proposed in '»-i eulogistic speech; and responded to by Mr. Powell; "The: Wanganui Regatta Association," proposed by Mr. Jones and responded to by. Mr. Sharpe; "Sister Clubs," proposed in a happy speech by Mr. Marshall and responded to by Messrs. Sharpe and'Wadhian on behalf of the Union 8.p., and Messrs. Godfrey and Kendrick for the Aramoho Rowing dub; "Winning Crews," proposed by Mr. Evans and responded to by Messrs. Delves, Northover and Collier ; "Donors of Trophies," proposed by Mr. Day and responded to by Mr. Hamilton; "The Press," proposed by Mr. Slipped and responded^ to by Mr. HarkeY; and "The Honorary Pianist, Mr. Archie Whiteford," proposed by Mr:-Day and responded to by Mr. Whiteford, who, in the course of a hap-1 ry. veply, stated that he had been a member1 of the club for, 15 years and !• oped to remain one for at least as long again. During ; the course,of the j evening Mr. Jones, on behalf of the members of .the Wanganui Rowing Club, \|ook the opportunity of presenting Mr. F. D. Banks with a dinner service in recogniton of his recent marriage. Mr. Banks, who w ra,s enthusiastically received, feelingly? responded. Mr. Brittain was also presented with a photo of himself with the winning ,crew of the "Tesla Fours." Trophies were presented to the following sucessful oarsmen: — Fitzherbert Fours—T. B. The evening was interspersed with a highly enjoyable programme of songs and recitations, to which the following contributed: Messrs. BHpper, BaileY, Wadman, Harker. Morrison. Northover, Poter Low is and James. Mr. Archio Whiteford presiding at the piano. A memorable evening was jbrouerht to a close by the singing of the National Anthem and Auld Lang Syne.
