WANGANUI HARBOUR BOARD.
A special meeting of the Wangamri Harbour Board was held on Friday. Piesent: Messrs J. B. Murray (chairman), N. Meuli, T. B. Williams. J. Jones, A. G. Bignell, and W. G. Bassett. The following resolutions were carried :— That Mr Ho worth bo instructed to prepare a plan and report on the Upper Harbour scheme. That on the completion of plans by Mr Howorth, the Chairman and Engineer proceed to "Wellington and interview Mr Holmes, and, if accessary, to ask Mr Holmes to visit WfinoM.j.\iu. That the Railway Department bo ad vised Chat the claim made under Clause 9 of the agreement between the Department and the Harbour "Board bo not admitted, and steps be takea to take over the wharves, and tluvc the ' chairman consult the solicitors as to tlit» ! necessary steps to be taken. | That Mr Hogan be asked to tako charge of the vesting Bill (regarding , the vesting of the Pilot Station Reserve in the Board). In connection with the Empowering Bill, the Board carried an amendment proposed by tho solicitors. The Chairman and Secretary were, instructed to provide the necessary information for the Bill. The Engineer was instructed to inspect the South Spit, and, if necessary, to plant sand grass. Mr Hogan, MR, wired from Wellington:—"Mr Holmes will furai;h est?mates and report on harbour scheme when he receives plans and .letaila of the scheme from the Board's engineer." (Mr Howorth has the plans nearly completed).
