After rounding the boat Collier led by a foot, and at the-groyne had a length's lead. Going on, he won as., stated ajbove. ' The next heat resulted in a win for Slipper's crew, who showed excellent rowing, winning, after leading all the way, by a length, and a half. Spurdte'a crew was two kiugths from Marshall's crew. The final produced a, fine struggle between the crews stroked by Day, Collier - and Slipper. From th«f start Slipper held the lead, but Colteer pressed him hard, and for a mile it was any, bodys race. Rounding the boat, both crews were practically level." A little further oh Slipper called on his crow tor a final -effort, and they drew away and won by two lengths. It. was -a splendid struggle, spoilt by being rowed in semi-darkness. Tin's is the second year m succession that Slipper has won the Blue Ribbon of the Shed, and his crew may well be proud of liis fine effort and keenness. ' DUSTIN SHIELD.
