The Amalgamated Miners' Association at Broken Hill have voted (vetoed?) the decision of the combined Unions to invite Peter Bowling to visit the district. Mr Greig, one of the Scottish Commissioners, considers that the best immigrants for Australia are young people between 16 and 21 years of ago. ' Replying' to a deputation; the Hon. Mr. Beeby said the Ministry considered the duplication of railways abso--1 lutely the first thing required. It was estimated that the' duplication proposed by last Parliament would cost five millions. MELBOURNE, Nov. 3. A deputation asked Premier Murray to legislate to provide for one dajr's rest in seven.
