The Timarii -Christchurch road race Mas run unde; favourable weather conditions, and the fastest time, which was put up by A. B. L. Smith (Linwood) scr., shr 30min 27 4-osecs, constitutes a record for the race. Following is the result: —W. Arnst (St. Albans), 25min. 1, C. G.'Chapman (Napier), 35min. 2, A. G. Donald (Palmerston North), 21£ mm. 3, E. Wall (Halswell), 31|min. 4, P. Humm (Spreydon), 20min. 5, F. H. Arnst (Ladbrook), 38min. 6, C. H. Lawton (Christchuiich), 29min. 7, L. Young (Winchester), 36min. 8, J. McTeigue (Halswell) 15min. 9, H. Edwards (Halswell) 25min.~10. The winner is an elder brother of Dick and Jack Arnst, and is thirty-one years of age. He stated that tlie race was a good one with good roads and sound pace throughout. He won after a hard finish by ten. yards from Chapman. His time was shr. 47min. 45secs, Chapman's time shr. 47min. 46sec, and Donald's shr. 35min. oosec.
