HAYWARD'S PICTURES
A very large audience was present at the above theatre last evening, when the bi-weekly change of programme was screened. Of cours?, the chief attraction was the "Living New Zealand" sei-ies of pictures, of which Mr Hnyward has obtained sole New Zealand rights of production. These will ba an excellent advertisement for the Dominion, for they show in a short space of time many of its more importantl characteristics. Life on sheep and cattle farms was shown ?>i all its phases. Specimens of New Zealand .scenery wore shown in beautiful pictures of the falls on. the River Waikatio and of the waves breaking upon the rock-bonnd coasts. New Zealand's wonderland, Rotorua. was shown at its bpst, the pictures of the Geysers at work being very: fine. Maori life was depicted in many beautiful pictures, showing the Maoris dancing, poi dances, canoe races, nature's washing-tub, making the various dancing mat?, etc. L-:rd Kitchener's recent inspection of the troops was also shown. ''The Train Crossing the Riimitakas" will give the people before whom*' the. picture is yet to be screened a fine idea of the ruggednoss iof the mountainous portion of t^e country. The pictures illustrating the visit of King George and his consort to the Dominion somo years ago awakens an interest in the celebrations carried out then. The picture is very clear, and though taken many years ago it compares very favourably with the films produced nowadays. While, of course, chief interest is centred in the King, the minor r'King Dick" is agan presented to his one-tinri'j admirng crowds. Altogether the seres is an excellent one, and in itself should draw good business during the next few nights. In addition tcthese picfcire*, two dramatics art? shown, "The Git; Spy," "The Young Inventor." "Glimpses of Sieilv" was a beautiful scenic film. "The 'Tec's Dream,1' a remarkable trick film, and "The Knot in the Handkerchief" were two ."jowl. aomacp..,
TO-NIGHT The same series of pictures will be presented, and there should again -be a bumper house present.
