WANGANUI POULTRY, PIGEON & CAGE BIRD ASSOCIATION.
THE SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST
Of the twenty-two Poultry Societies formerly affiliated to the North -^IslandPoultry, Pigeon and Canary Association, only eleven are "now in existence. It has been, a case of the survival of the fittest. In the front rank of the fit is the Wanganui Poultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Association, and its sixth annual show, to be held in the Wanganui A. and P. Association's buildings on the racecourse on Wednesday and Thursday next, promises to eclipse in attractiveness and.quality ot the exhibits all previous functions of the kind held inWanganui.. The entries are in excess of last year's and the excellent prizes offered liave attracted representatives from the most noted yards in the Dominion, exhibits coming from, Otago, Canterbury, Auckland, Marlborough, Hawke's Bay, and Well-; ington. The competitors for the N.Z. Wyandott©: Club's valuable trophies. wjll constitute a. show in themselves, and, to those who'are only acquainted with , ordinary specimens of the beautiful Silver-laced Wyandotte, the sight of these birds, brought to pe.rfection by, ; the science and- art of the specialist," wiU be a perfect revelation. Tha North Island Championships for the Black and the Buff Orpingtons and, the popular working Homer pigeon have also brought competitors from far and near, and visitors to the show will have an opportunity of seeing the .very best the Dominion can produce. The same may be said of fancy pigeons, the beauty of which charming section of the show" must appeal to everyone. Canaries and cage birds will be a usually strong strong feature'Shd 'a feast of beauty to the eye. In the Home Industries there will also be keen competition in the more popular classes, although in some. items in this section there is a slight falling off. The success of the show as an exhibition is assured and all that is wanted to make it a financial success is an appreciative public. The officfals have worked hard to sustain the repu-. tation they have earned of running one of the best shows in the Dominion, and it is to be hoped the public will support the institution as it deserves by assembling in . full force on Wednesday and Thursday next. .
.-..The Sliow will open., at 1 p.m. oil .Wednesday,, an,d close at 10 p.m., openinp:. at 10 a.iTi. and clcsing at 10 p.m. on Thursday. .
Trams will run to and from the Racecourse gate at intervals of 15 mimiteJj during the hours the Show is open.
