TAYLOR-CARRINGTON PICTURES
There was a good audience at the Opera House last evening, when the Taylor-Carrington Company, with their natural generosity, showed their fine pictures in aid of the Ambulance Saturday fund. The takings were £27; and haif of this amount was handed over to Captain Mac Naught, who, on behalf of the Defence Committee, thanked Miss Carrington. As usual, a fine programme of new pictures was presented The only picture previously shown was that depicting Wilbur Wright's flying machine making one of its Avonderful flights. This was repeated by spedal request. A picture which created much interest, and which was a fine representation of the real event, was that entitled "C.Q.D." Tins depicted the collision of the Florida and Republic, and the gallantry of Jack Binns, the wireless telegraph operator on the latter, in sticking to his post and sending into space the signal C.Q.D. ("in danger; want .assistance"),, which eventually brought assistance. Another fine film was a representation of " Richard III.," this great drama being shown most realistically. "Logging in Sweden" and " Serpent Hunting in the Malay Archipelago" were very instructive, as also Avas a beautiful scenic film illustrative of life in Sicily. Some capital "dramatics" were shown, and the audience was much amused by the "comics," some of which were very laughable. The entertainment was thoroughly enjoyed, and the return visit, in four weeks' time, with a complete change of programme, will be eagerly looked forward to.
