FOOTBALL DINNER AND PRESENTATION.

The boys of Karioi Football Club are a jovial band of sports when they assemble to "do honour to a departing member. On Monday evening Mr Jack Hogg, late hon. secretary, who is leaving the_ district in a- few weeks, was entertained to dinner by the Club, at its headquarters, Karioi, when a large gathering of members and supporters wore present. Mr S. S. Cox, vice-presi-dent Ruapelm Union, ccenpird the chair, supported by -Meti Kingi (captain) Messrs W. Cuff (lion, secretary), Sid Cuff, Ger>. Wakh, Moari, Te. Moa. Puki, and others. Travts, speeches and flings were the order after dinner, Messrs E. and G. Stephens. Lambert, Clark. Mahoney, Ward and Te Moa, contributing to the programme- Mr W. Cufl also delighted the company with humorous recitations. Mr Hogg was the recipient of a surprke gift of a case of silver-mounted pipes. Mr Cox, in proposing the toast of the guest, presented it to him on behalf of the' club members (who had subscribed in recognition of his meritorious pervicos) referred in eulogistic terms to f.he interest and enthusasm shown in th^ Club, and also other sports by that gentleman. He was sure Avhcm he said Karioi was losing one of it> be=t sports and willing helpers he was expressing the sentiments of all present. They wore all sorry he wns leaving them, and during the four years he had been mnnr>otod with the Cbib he had looked after its interests and devoted a Irt of ]iis time to its welfare. Mr Meti Kingi (rapt.) replied in the same strain, and it was drunk with acclamation. After tho sister clubs had be'^n honoured, tho remainder of the evening was passed in_ gr.od fellowship. T'w nost< r Walsh, spared no pains to make the function a success, and Mr J. Lambrrt presided at the piano with his usual ability.
