PROTEST AGAINST MR CARROLL

WELLINGTON, Juue 18. A rumour is current in the lobbies this morning that the Acting-Premier-ship was not carried out without some friction. It is suggested that Mr Millar contested the 1 position against Mr Carroll, on the grounds of lack.of energyBy "arrangement Mr Carroll will take the position on the ground of seniority. This decision was only arrived at as a result of compromise.
