THE POLICE CENSURED
, . NAPIER, June 18. An .inquest touching ' the death of Ada Emily llobson, who perished in the destruction of the Porangahau schoolioom by fire, was held at Porangahau on Thursday. It. appeared from the evidence that deceased's husband saved their only child, but was unable to .find Mrs Robson. Her remains were found m a spare bedroom, just behind the one horn which the child was rescued. She had apparently gone into the room with a kerosene lamp in her hand, and i either fainted or accidentally dropped the lamp. , Her husband was in the workshop at the time, and had his at-tention-drawn by the noise of windows breaking and things falling. . The jury returned a verdict that the deceased was burnt to death, but that there was no evidence to show libw the fire originated. A rider was added expresing dissatisfaction at the delay of the police authorities in dispatching a constable to the scene of the fire.
