NEW ALPINE MINE.

GREYMOUTH, June 18. .: The New Alpine mine manager reports for the week ending' 15th June, 1909, "as follows.—"During the week a little driving was done, both in the north and south faces. The total distance of the drive north from the crosscut is 120 feet, and-south 6(Kfeet, making a total footage between the two faces of 184 feet. We are' starting to crosscut into the footwall to determine the width and assay value in the face. Going south there "is two feet of reef. We will have to stop the south face at present as we have no extra power for hauling mullock. In the stopes the reef remains unchanged, except in No. 7, where it will average. 12 feet at present, and-shows fine gold. Tlie reef being, flat here, requires more handling than in the other stopes. Two hundred and thirty tons were paddoeked. making a total of 314 tons.
