AUCKLAND, June 15. Dr. Solf, Governor of German Samoa, replying at Apia to a petition signed by German settlers for the. establishment of black police, said that, considering the recent disturbances, he th^u^ht the fears of the settlers regarding their property were justified, but he could not regard the method recommended as the correct way to secure proteoven. The introduction of black police would result in the Samoans losing *.onfiden -3 m th» Government, and would probably ajso result in a general rising. U-o »yj»s m a position to state that a second German cruiser would be stationed i\i the South Seas, and that1 larger warships would probably call at Apia.
