: WANGANUI TROTTING CLUB. TO-DAY'S MEETING. There will doubtless be a very large assemblage of sporting enthusiasts today at the W T.j!.C. Club's grounds when the first day's racing of the Wanganui Trotting Club's inaugural to^alisator, meeting will be held. - Practically all the trotters that have been accepted for, are already on the scene, and given a fine day there should be some very interesting and exciting racing. The decision of the club to have a half-sovereign totalisator is a praiseworthy one, and will meet with the approval of outside patrons. The energetic secretary (Mr Selby Morton), his assistants and the club's honorary .officials have all been working hard to ensure the success of the meet~ ing, and as the permanency of this trotting club's holding annually a two days' meeting will" to some extent depend on the success of to-day's and Saturday's fixtures, it is to be hoped the sporting public will show their appreciation of these gentlemen's tireless- efforts and roll up in large numbers. The Garrison. Band will be in attendance on "both days. The luncheon and afternoon tea departments are in the capable hands of Mr Dustin, while the fact that Mr Tom Nixon, of the Criterion, has the booth, is sufficient guarantee of the quality of his stock and the civility of his employees. ' Country visitors are being catered for by tlie Railway Department, whose advertisement appear^ in another column.
