WANGANUI COUNTY COUNCIL.
Tho usual monthly meeting of the Wanganui County Council was held yesterday, when there were present Mr D. J\fason (chairman), and Crs Lilburn, Mannington, Fletcher, Sommerviile, McGregor and Neilson. Leave of absence was granted to Cr Speed. MINUTES.—The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirm; d. SPEUIAL ORDERS:—A special order dissolving the UpJ?er Wangaehu Road Board and making provision fcr the election of a new Board was confirmed, as also was a special order regarding the Mangawhero Road Board and tho Mafa,ongaonga Road Board. ACCOUNTS.—Accounts were passed for payment.
MEETING.—It was resolved that the first meeting of the Mangawhero Road Board be held at tho Wanganui County Council's office on May 6th*; also that Mr -David Bell be Clerk and .Returning Officer. f
ELECTION.—The Returning Officer reported the result of the Harbour Board election.
BRIDGE.—From the Wanganui Borough Council asking the "Council to pay half of a demand made by the Public Works Department as progress payment for work done on Town Bridge.-^-Re-solved that the Borough Council's attention b? referred to the Council'^ previous .letter"*statihg that the Council would not make any payment ti.l the bridge repairs were completed. LICENSE FEES.—From the Wanganui Borough Council stating that .the Council's request: for a refund of Nixon and Co.'s auctioneer's licease ice had been referred to the Fina#:eiG|E)i^aniittca. '
BUREAU.—Resolved to inform the Telegraph DeDartment that it is the wish of the Council that a telephone bureau at Mr Mason's^residence, niidway between MakirikirT and Kakatihi.
Matters of a routine nature were dealt with and the meeting then adjourned.
