MANGAWHERO ROAD BOARD.

Tho ordinary montiilymeeting. of the Mangawhero Road Board was held on Friday, sth inst., at 10 a.m. Present Messrs D. Mason (chairman), Hamilton, O'Halloran, and Ross. Leave of absence was' grantod to Mr Speed.

CORRESPONDENCE—The following inward correspondence was read:— Lott-pr from Secretary to the Treasury provisionally approving the Piahau-tait-Taykira and the Taukira special loans of £2000 each.

Commissioner of Crown Lands re accrued thirds and erecting bridge over tho Upokonm stream.

TRANSFERS—Tho following transfers on the Roll were.approved: H. W. Montgomerie to J. and E. Brownlie, H. W. Montgomerie to W. Alien, J. O'Halloran to P. O'Halloran.

, KAIMATIRA-COWPERS BRIDGE ROAD.—The Clerk reported that the Mataongaonga Road Board at their last meeting had agreed to authorise the Board to repair and metal this road and to contribute towards the cost of same., the rate collected from the properties abutting this road for the year ending 31st March. 1910.

Resolved tlia-t the Mataongaonga Road Board be asked to make a further contribution in addition -to that offered towards xhv cost of metalling, as the Road was at present in a bad state of repair, and would tako a considerable amount to put it m order. TAUKTRA SPECIAL LOAN—It was resolved on the motion of Mr Ross, to instruct the Clerk to take the necessary stem towards raising the loans. % ACCOUNTS.—Accounts amounting to £176 0s Id were passed for payment. Bank nass book showing a credit balance of £245 9s 2d, was laid on the table.*

RAUPUI ROAD CONTRACT It was resolved to accept the offer of the contractor to continue, this road for a further 20 chains for the sum of £33 8s 4d.

SPECIAL LOAN—Mr Ross gave notice that ho would nioye at next meeting of the Board that the LismoreParapara special loan for £600 be cancelled.

TENDER B.—Metalling Kaimata Cowper's Bridge Road. Three tenders wore received for this contract, and it was resolved to accept"that of Mr J. Hojrgj.

UNPAID RATES—The Clerk was instructed to advertise that all rates unpaid after 21st March would_ be charged an additional 10 per cent., and would ho sued for if unpaid after 31st March, 1909.

UPOKONGARO BRIDGE—It was resolved that Mr. Dickson be asked to report what weight it was safe"'to allow to • nass over the "Upo-kongaro Bridge. STRAYING HORSES—Tho Clerkwas instructed to draw the attention of tho Rancor to the number of horses that wore bpinrr. allowed to stray on the roads ah night time. .
