■Mr Fisher, Federal Premier, speaking at the Australian Natives' dinner, said that it must be impressed upon the people that they must practically rely on themselves for defence in co-opera-tion with tho Mother Country. We cannot have efficient sea defence unless wo have a navy controlled by our own people in co-operation with Britain. In regard to military defence, he was entirely in favou rof compulsory training.
