RAETIHI NOTES.

Mr J. McWhirter, of Mangatoroa, was unfortunately burned out on Wednesday last at 9.30. The residence and contents of the house were totally destroyed. At the time of the fire Mrs McWhirter and family were in bed and Mr McWhirier away. "They will ba very heavs losers.
A meeting of the Progressive Association was held at 7.30 on Thursday last, a fair number of members attending. In the absence of the chairman, Mr H. J. Davis was voted to tho chair. It was resolved that the County Council be approached and asked to take steps to improve the sanitary condition of the *town M* S. Harris was elected a member. Arter some routine business tho meeting adjourned. Mr J. Campbell, late manager of the Ra.etihi Co-operative Dairy Co., has left to take charge of the Taihapo Dairy Company. Mr Campbell takes away with him the well wishes of numerous friends.
Mr Huse>j of Midhurst, has been appointed manager of th 9 Raetihi Cooperative Dairy Company. Mr Huse has been in the «mploy of the Midhurst Company for the last 6 or 8 years. Tho continued fine weather is a boon to the farmers, and lambing is progressing favourably. The dairy factory starts operations on the Ist of next month.
