McFarlane, asking for an extra month in which to deliver pipes and valves for water supply. . . ■■■"■ .'■ ■ -'■ - ORpSSIN_G.—From the Castlecliff Railway Conipany, granting the Board permission to make a temporary cross^ /ing by^r: the line in the vicinity' of Balgowriie: to enable the Board'to"''carb metal, which they are/ob'•taining from; Landguard Bluff for the purpose of 'road making.—Received. ■! SMITHFIELD . ROAD.^Correspondence was received from Messrs Marshall and Hutton re Mr McGregor and the above road: Mr Mcßeth wrote, stating that lie was prepared to pay the sum of £20 to the Gonville Town Board as bis contribution towards the completion :of the Smithfield Road.—The Chairman reported that he had interviewed Mr 'McGregor re the cost of forming this road (£80)7 and the latter had agreed to pay half the cost.—'Reeolved that Mr Mcßeth's letter be received.
WATER.SUPPLY.^Mr Rice wrote, asking if it were possible for residents living on the Town Belt to obtain the borough 'water supply, as the mains passed their doors.—Referred to the. incoming Board. " , . BOUNDARY ROAD—The Wanganui Borough Council wrote, stating that their foreman had been instructed. to proceed with the formation of a portion of the Boundaiy Road desired by the Board. ,
DEMP/SEY'S ROAD.—A' letter was received from Mr.G. SauriderSj stating that the contractors had completed the formatibn^of Dempsey's Road^ connecting the Springvale. and Matipo Roads. —Resolved that the road be acquired by the Board. Appreciation of the success of the work;was expressed.
JACKSON STREET.--Resolved to inform the Borough'; Council that the Board is agreeable to pay half the cost of drainage for the above street. METAL.—The Chairman reported that the Board had; accepted the tender of Messrs Tomsett for supplying metal at 6s 3d a yard. The metal will be brought from the Landguard Bluff. Tenders ranged lip to 8s a yard.
GENERAL RATE.—A resolution was passed re intention to strike a general rate-at the Board's meeting in October of a penny in the £ on all rateable property in the district. KOROMIKQROAD —-Resolved that the 'above road' be metalled to the width of 10 feet,'the pipes to be laid on the side of the road.
FOREMAN'S REPORT.—The foreman's report was read and adopted.
