NEW PLYMOUTH. August 22. ■ Taranaki and Hawke's Bay hockey representatives met on the Recreation Sports Ground this afternoon. The weather conditions were perfect and tho ground in good condition. The game was fast and interesting, endinp- in a win for Taranaki by four goals to two. The scores fairly represent the difference between tho two teams. Tho Hawko's Bay players' shooting, generally a strong feature, was defective, many shots being missed. During tho greater part of the second spell Tara-i-aki played a man short, owing to Fagan receiving severo injuries to the kneo from a''blow-from a ball. Goals for the winners were scored by Sargent and Fa-gan in the first spell, and John Harris and James Harris in the second, and for Hawko's Bay by Burness in the first spell., and Sliattky in the second. .
