REPLY TO "TRADESMAN."

To the Editor

Sir,—"Tradesman" wishes an opportunity to state a case. I write.hoping that he will do so, and at the same timo publish my view of the case. I have been engaged in my business for over 30 year*, and by attention to business have accumulated savings whioh.-I have invested in brewery plant, eto. Tho carrying of No-License confiscates and sweeps away the savings of :ny lifetime, and at the same time preventG mo from earning a living in a profession that I have served all the best years of my life at learning. The elector who votes No-License does so to bring about what he or she considers a national reform, but how can I be expected to respect those who do this, and by so doing confiscate my property, but who are not willing to snare the ccst themselves. I belong to a section of tho communitj' whose property another section of the same community are willing to confiscate, and so sacrifice tha individual .for the possible benefit of the whole. No other action is treated in this way—compensation to the individual being universal, with this exception. Is it reasonable or failunder the circumstances to suggest that I should help in any way to support those who are using their best endeavoura to financially ruin me, and take away a business that I have spent a life time in making? As a resident said to me, it would be just as right to take his property that he had made as draper as it is to take mine.—l. am, Ot °'' HOPE GIBBONS.
