TURAKINA MAORI GIRLS'SCHOOL.

The first inspector's examination of -this school was conducted iby Mr Porteous on Thursday, iNovember 17th. The results "were :-HStiandaf d I.: Presented 2, passed 2. Standard III.: Presented 7, passed 7. Standard IV.: Presented 5, passed 5. Standard V.: Presented 6, passed &. There were not presented two iwho 'have passed Standard VI., and one wiho ibtas not been at the school sufficiently long to learn her work. One girl "was ia)bsent. The pupils are regularly ■given breathing exercisies, and after several months there has been a considertalble development in chest measurement.

After giving details of the different Ibranches of iwork and study, the Inspector concludes ibis report as follows: —'" It gives me pleasure to say that I was highly pleased with what I saw and 'heard during xny visit to this school. I lhad an opportunity of seeing the girls 'at-dinner and dining with tShem. I noticed nothing to which exception could ibe taken. The girls tare very clean, apparently very (happy, and are the pictures of health. I wais pleased with the manner in wlhidh they go aJbout Jtlheir various-duties. They, are receiving a very practical and vajhiaible training in all the duties appertaining to the (home, ■and arie ait the same time acquiring good ihiabite. I consider that this echool in the training of these girls is doing an excellent work, and exercising a most (healthy daifluenoe on tibiem. I should be surprised if the decidedly practical training wfhich t!he girls receive does not produce most beneficial •■results. The excellent -condition of the school, and the good work tthtat ds being done redounda to the credit of tie teacher, Mr •Hamilton, whio evidently has the welfare of the pupils very much at heart. He is aJbly seconded by Mm (Hamilton." The girls are to he. taken to-morrow for an outing toitflie Caebleciiff beach.
