A BUSY SATURDAY NIGHT.

It has been said tlhat Saturday night is not a good show night in Wanganui, fbuib the promoters of tSie Catholic bazaar lhad no reason to of "tin© business done. Day by diay the interest in the (bazaar increases, so much so that it is almost a •certainty that all previous figures will :b© put in the shade. The follonving ore (the winners of the raffles and guessing competitions: — Messrs N. Simpson, Green, A. Dunkley, O'Drien, A Powiiall, T. iMeehan, B. Delves, L. Loftus, J. M. 'Murphy, J. Dodds, H. Courtney, iMesdaones Wood, Fitapatrick, W. H. Clapham (2), Very Rev. Dean Grogan, iMisses L. Robson, L. Green, and E. Loftus. To-night the (Maypole Dance and the Japanese Fan Drill, by the Convent pupils, will be .repeated. There will be ; a chorus by St Mary's choir, a comic song by Mir Simpsom, of Auckland, and other interesting items. • ■ . One of *he most interesting of till© eide shows is,|tihe magic lantern exhibition, which 'is"under the aible management of Messrs Provost amd McLean. The instrument used is iby Dalimeyer, •and is on© of the ibest of its kind in fho colony. The dissolving apparatus works splendidly, and produces very good effects. The pictures are all very [fine. To-night there will 'be an entire dhange of prograimme. Views of London, Paris, Sydney, and also various parts of New Zealand will be shown. An amusing comic series entitled " The Bashful Man " (will be included. Thralling scenes 'from tlhe Boer war will lalsto ibe thrown on Jtfhi© .canvas. A descriptive /lecture will accompany ©a-oh view. No one should go away without seeing this show. , So far • the financial results at the bazaar have baen satisfactory, the takings amounting to considerably, over £400. A meeting of the committee and stiall-iholders will be held to-night to decide the closing night. Considerable interest was taken in the novel guessing competition on the result of the New Zealand v. Scotland foot/ball matcih, won flby the former. The maaresb guess to the actual sbore, 14 to 7, -will take the prize. The winner will be announced to-niight.
