. Sir,—>A lot of doubt exists in people's ■-.aeainds as to tho 'local option vote, and _^you would be doing a service to the -i-sxanrmunity, I am sure, if you would .ranake the matter clear. The ptrohiibitionSists are telling the people to cross out ■a&'h© top line, and that in so doing they -\xri\\ be voting for No-License, Dut I "Sfchink this is wrong, and that in order t!:o vote No-License two issues (two lines'* rsnuGtb be crossed out, viz., " Confinu~ance" and " Reduction," leaving tho H>ottom line, " No-Lioeonse," standing. TPhis,"l think, is the way to vote No,3liicense, and the.only way. Then some -ssay if you cross out more than one lino "tthe vote is informal, and some think if you leave more than one lino in -this will awake the vote informal, and so jSfche battle rages, no two hardly agreeing. It is the middle line that creates -dfche difficulty, and hoping you -wi]l re■:anove this difficulty from the minds of Z"vonr numerous readers, —I am, etc.,. JAMES GROVE.
Marton, November 17, 1905. (It is not necessary in order to vote -JNo-License to strike out two lines. Elec~ftors who " Strike out the top line " will, "ifey so doing, vote for No-License, and ~3bheir ballot paper will be quite in ord--«er. If, however, an elector objects to **' Reduction," but wishes to "voto for -JNo-Lioense, he must cross out the two -riop lines. In order to avoid confusion, -rfi&nd to minimise the possibility of their ballot papers, the stip"iporters of No-License are advised to .^strike out only the one line—the top Jttne.—Ed " Chronicle.")
