Per Press Association. GISBORNE, September 13. At the Supreme Court, Judge Edwards gave judgment for plaintiff for £203 in the case Black v. Hombleson, claim for damages for rionfulfilnient of contract for the sale of sheep. The Supreme Court concluded to-day, and Hr. Justice Edwards left for Palmerston North. '..
Judgment wai. reserved in an appeal under the Factories Act, the appellants being Robert and James Robb, two brothers trading as a firm. The point at issue is whether such a .firm not employing other labour must register as a factory.
BLENHEIM, September 13. Iho adjourned case in which a young m&n, Joseph Byrne, is charged with assaulting Patrick O'Driscoll in Blenheim m tho darkness, with intent to rob him, was called on today. It was further remanded till the 20th. O'Driscoll, who has been in the hospital for nine days with a fractured skull, not being sufficiently recovered to give evidence.
CHRISTCHURCH, September 13. A micHle-aged man named Patrick was committed for trial to-day on a charge of uttering a gilded 'shilling, purporting to be a sovereign. TIMARU, September 13. At the Supreme Court to-day the jury disagreed in the caso of assault with intent, and the case will probably be heard to-morrow, though the Judge suggested its postponement till next session, on account of the nervous condition of tho principal witness. A man named Barber, a storeman, was acquitted of stealing goods from his employer, but was convicted of stealing r. ring from a jeweller's shop when looking over tho goods. He was sentenced tj threo months.
