Sir W. Steward moved to include Empiro Day in the list of statutory holidays.—Lost by 32 to 24.
A new clause was added on the Premier's motion providing that no female assistant under 21 years of age shall be employed in any shop after 9 p.m., except on Saturdays and Christmas and New Year's' Eve, provided that this clause shall not apply to the wife or members ot tho occupier's family.
Shops a nd Offices Bill was further conendments, and the House rose at 1 a.m.
