DUNEDIN, September 4. The annual hockey match between the Christohurch and Dunedin Ladies' Hockey C|ubs was played to-day, and resulted in a draw, each side scoring two goals.

As the outcome of the flooding on the flat, a number of claims for damage came before the Drainage Board tonighjt, and were considered in committee m, the meeting. The George Street School Committee met to-night. A letter was received from the Rev. T. K. Molntyre conveying the resolution passed at the recent public meeting called by him in approval of giving religious instruction m schools on one half-hour in the week. He (added that the canvas of the parents had so far shown that over 90 per cent, were in favour of the request being granted. The Chairman said he (had-bad a conversation with the writer, who indicated that if the committee did not grant the request the ministers would get another committee, which •would do so. After discussion it was resolved itihat the Committee cannot see its way to alter its previous de^ cision declining the i-equest. The Drainage Boaa'd have received 35 tenders Jor its £50,000 4^ per cent, loan. The total offered was £141,000. Two tenders were received for the whole loan, one at par and the other at ss. premium. The price offered ranged from par to_2Q3. per cent. The loan is expected to realise a. premium-of ss. per ■cent.

In connection with the recent accident by which a girl had a part of her ear and scalp torn'off by her hair becoming entangled in the shafting, the effoi*t to make the scalp and ear become permanently attached has not succeeded so fai\ and little hopes are now entertained of suc^ss. The girl herself is making good progress.
