The Gisborn© Racing Club's Steepleichase meeting was concluded to-day. The sum of £4315 has passed through tho totalisator, making £8481 for the meeting, which was over £1000 in excess of last year's meeting. Results.: — Hurdles. — Roseplot 1, Inspan 2, Minerve 3. Also started—Borax and Whitirea. Time, 3min 28 2-ssec. Dividends £2 9s and 11s.
Scurry.—Motokehu 1, Melton Hall 2, Flume 3. Artillery, Alf and Comedy also started. Time, lmin 22 2-ssee. Dividends £2 2s and 13s.
Waikanae Handicap.—Ladylike 1, "Will-o'-the-Wisp2, Maiuawaru 3. Also started—Tukapa, Sarilla, Casino, Woodfield. Won easily. Time lmin 34sec. Dividends £4 19s and 15s. Te Hapapra Steeplechase.—Jacy o Xantern 1, Sergeant Major 2. Also -started—-Morehu. Time smin 52 sees. Second Hack Flat.—Ladylike 1, Flag ' Unique 3. Also started—Lucks All, Reay, Te Uku, Tiromai, Motokehu, Squirm. Time, lmin 51 l-ssec. Dividends £1 8s ana £2 13s. Hack Steeplechase Handicap.—Paramata 1, Tehar 2. Also.,started—Great Scott, Morehu, omd Black Diamond. Time 4min. 5 3-ssec. Dividend £3 14s. Final Handicap.—Faro 1, Te Uku 2, Minerve 3. Also started— Kaipetepete, Sarilla. Bruiser, and Bauiti. Owners of thoroughbred mares m tho Wanganui district wul be glad to hear that Mr. Geo. Chamberlain has been fortunate enough to secure the services of that well-known and successful stallion Phaethon for the coming season. As the sire of Lady Lilian and other cracks, he has amply proved his value as a sire. Mr. Chamberlain will also be able to place the services of that successful young horse Stepson .(Stepniak-Britomarte) at the services of breeders. An extended notice of these horses will be published in Monday's issue.
