NELSON ITEMS.

Per Press Association. NELSON, July 6

At the Nelson Chamber of Commerce rceeting it was resolved to obtain charts, etc., from the Decimal Association, London, for distribution amongst the schools. It was also resolved that in tho opinion of the Chamber Nelson should be the centre of a police district, and that, in view of the growth of its population, it is highly necessary that the local police force should be strengthened.

Much inconvenience having been caused by the alteration in the Union Company's time-table with reference to the. steamers between Nelson, New Plymouth, and Onehunga, it was agreed to request the company to revert to its formei time-table.

At the meeting to-night preliminary arrangements were made for the celebration of pie Trafalgar centenary.
