Mi. Geo. Hunter has definitely decideci to contest the Waipawa seat at the nexi general election. A private letter from Mr. Donald Grant, late of Palmerston, shows that he is at present residing in Japan. He gives no indication of returning. A London cable announces the death of Jacques Elisee Reclus, Professor of Comparative Geography at the University of Brussels, and initiator of the anti-marriage movement. Dr. .Chase, president of Queen's College, Cambridge, has been appointed Bishop of Ely, replacing Dr. Compton, who has resigned.
