CONSECRATION CEREMONY.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 7. It is understood that the disaffection, among the tramway employees en-d.ed by the resignation of the official of whoso actions they complained.

AUCKLAND, March 7. The solemn oerenioniy of consecrating the'-new stone church of Si. Matthew's was carried out this .-morning by the Bishop of the Diocese, Dr. Neligan, -who wwe a handsome cope. The big church, built to accommodate 1200, was packed to the doors, though no unseemly crowding was permitted.' -The'ceremony was most impressive, the Bishop preaching a most interesting and powerful sermon. The music was sung by the combined choirs of the Anglican Churches in Auckland, under the baton of Mr Philpott, Mr Arthur Towsey (of Wanganu'i) presiding at the "organ. The ■church, which is a very haiidsbme structure of Oamaru stone, cost £27,000, and is opened free of debt.
