Sl'i', —I should like to call1 the atten/fcoiii of tho Council to the bad state of tho footpath in St. HiJl street, at the rear of the Neiwmarket Hotel. It has been in a. bad state ever since the fire w'hieh destroyed tihe stable there soin.e timo back. An eldeir'ly lady slipped on this bad piece- recentVy, and narrowly escaped serious injury. Perhaps when some aoecde-nt has happened tho Council wC.f. seo to it.—l am, etc.,
