THE HORTICULTURAL SHOW.
The attendance at the Horbieuttitfural Show j'estefday afternoon was. considerably interfered with by the heavy rain which fell. In the evening, however, there was a very good attendance. A very excellent musiicai programme was rendered by the T.Y.M.I. Band and Armslirong'a Orchestra, while the T.Y.M.I. Ladies' and Gentlemen's.Gymnastic Classes gave very interesting performances.
The public were delighted witli th© exhibits, which were unanmously voted to be the best seen in W&mganui for a, lone time. *
Mr. Hope Gibbons won the table de-. corating compotiitii-on for. gentlemen. His table was decorated with poppies. The calse weight, judging competition (for cake kindly provided by Mrs. McMurray) was'keenly competed for. Th-a correct weight of ,the cake was ?■ lbs. .11 ozs., andtJio winner proved to' fee M-Sher-manj who judged the weight to b& 7 i;bs. 10ozs; ■ •■■:'■■'',.",-' :.'''': ' ,;.:':,

In addition to the exhibits mentioned yesterday, there were "©m exhibition only" a. very nice cactus and some fine swasb peas, sliown by Mry. J. Bail!, of Wrilson. street. 'Mi-s. I/&thbridgo , also exhibited some, peonies. The committee desire to aclaiowledge lieceipt of a cake kindly .presented by Mi\ William Hogg. Miss Ewing, liead mistress of tlie Moss-t-awn. tlchool, brought alii h&v- pupils to the Show yesterday. Miss L. B. Duigan was the only competitor "in tlie .girls' table; decorationi competition for Mr, W. A. Izaa-d's prize. The judge deemed the table worthy of •the. prize
The Show lias been a complete success in ©very way, and it is. anticipated that •when the accounts are nil iix there; will b-o a substantial surplus. The judges (who, it may be mentioned, gave all round Mitisfaction) were as follows:—Pot p'iantis, 'fruit;, and vegetables, Mr. TV. T. Ben-efielH; cut flowers, Mr. O.
