The annual agricultural show of the Munawatu and Wat Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association.. to be held thia week at Pafonorston North, will no doubt be attended by an increased attendance on that of previous years—representative of the farming community and the--general■■public—'that a brief outline of the three days' programme will be of interest. - The opening day will be devoted to the judging of pigs, poultry, horticultural and home industries. The public school and technical work will be judged on the day previous. In the extensive Exhibition Hall there, will be a display of some 250 specimens of grasses prepared by Professor Kirk, Department of Agriculture, besides numerous growing .specimens of noxious weeds. The implement, machinery, and vehicle divisions occupy a 'larger amount ot space than in the past, Tho events for competition include military section, jumping and leading, the school cadets physical drill, -atad a maiden hunters jumping competition. The second day is preeminently one for the breeders and farmers, being entirely devoted to judging horses, cattle. and sheep. On this occasion additional interest is attached.'to: the cattle and shoep divisions, owing to them being a considerable entry ot stock from the South Island. The advantages ot comparing representative stock from both islands will bo an opportunity not frequently met 'with, particularly as several of the exhibits are prize winners from Chriflttehurch. The last day is tho people's day. All the stock will be on view in the pens and the horses and cattle will parade in the afternoon. Competitions are numerous and of an attractive order, and include single and tandem driving, ladies', driving connpefition, hunters competition for the challenge cup, and the handicap wood-chopping competition, for which there are fourteen entries. The comprdhehsiveneys of this huge agricultural show, with its many attractions, promises to be a distinct advance on its predecessors, and it is believed that them will be an increase of several thousands. The success of the Association has no doubt advertised conspicuously the North Island in this and the neighbouring colonies, to the advantage and gain of the southern .portion of this island. . The Railway Department have issued special tiling-tables, with excursion f,ares. To meet the convenience of visitors, the Association halve1 an accommodation bureau, proving already an acceptable convenience to large numbers. Mr. Nicol,. the well known caterer of Marton, Trail haMe charge of No. 3 refreshment booth at the Palmerston Show; Meals-will be served at the popular price of 2s.
