ASHBURTON, May 22. The weather was fine for the second day's races of the Ashburton County Racing Club's Autumn Meeting, and the attendance was good. Speculation was brisk, the stum of £1674 being passed through the machine, making a total of £2783 10s for the. two days. In the Pallas dispute the stewards decided to return the investors' montey less ten ,per cent., and the question of the stakes money will be decided at a later meeting. The weather is fine, and there is a good attendance. Results:— ' ;
Hack High-weight.—Beira 1. Helios 2, Miss O'Conmell 3. Artilleryman and Nikola also ran. Won by a nose. Time, lmiri. 19 4/sseo. Dividend, £44.
Kolmar Galloway Handicap, ••• furlongs. —Hearts 1, Rangitikei 2, Lucretia 3. All started. Won by a length and a half. Time, lmin.. 6isec. Dividend, £5 4s. Autumn" Handicap.—Kelburn 1, Secret Society 2, Zealous 3. Secret Society led for half the distance, where Kelburn, who had been lying handy, came through and won comfortably by a length. All started. Time, lmin. 44sec. Dividend, £2 lOe. Trial Handicap, 6 furlongs.—Don Bell 1, Orkaa 2, Kaolinf 3. All started. Won by a length, after a good finish. Time, lmin. 19 l/sseo. Dividend', £13 10s. Juvenile Stakes, 6 furlongs.—Lee-Enfield 1, Firebrand 2. Won by two lengths, after a good race. Time, lmin. 31 '4/ssec. Dividend, £3. Wakanui Handicap, 5 furlongs.—Hypnotist 1, Goldenmfere 2, Ordnance 3. Pallas, and Secret Society were scratched. Hypnotist came through from the distance, and won by a length. Tiqje, lmin. 4sec. Dividends, £4 14s and £2 Bs.
The sum of £1799 10s was put through the machine for the first day, and £1674 for the second, making a total of £3473 10s for the two days'.
