SICKNESS IN WELLINGTON.
WELLINGTON, September 23.
So far a<s scarlet fever isr concerned, the outbreak of .infectious diseased' in the city appears to have passed its crisis. The Health Department reports that the number of cases of measles continue numerous, but those of fever are gradually diminishing. The great increase in, the number of patients sent to the District Hospital has been a severe tax on the staff, besides greatly overconvding the institution. Even should, the outbreak have passed it's most virulent stage, it is thought necessary, in order to prevent a recurrence, that further accommodationi should be provided. At the conference between the delegates of the City Council and the Hospital Trustees it was decided to recommend the Council to pay the cost of six additional nurses and of tihe erection of af temporary building adjacent to the Hospital large einough to( lacaonpoiodate twenty patients1. To-day there were 175 patients in the Hospital.
