TAIHAPE, September 18. The new Anglican Ohurch (St. Margaret's) was opened on Wednesday, the 10th instant. Tiie day was bleak and wet, and many who had expressed their intentions of attending would not face both bad roads and bad -weather. However, the ohurch, which has a seating accommodation for 160, was comfortably tilled at afternoon and evening services. The Venerable Archdeacon Towgood, M.A., vicar of Marten, preached at the afternoon service, and the Rev." J. Le Dove, M.A< t vicar of Hunterville, in the evening. Both sermons were listened to with greafc interest*. !The seri^ea tweUe fully* <jhoral. During tha afternoon service the sacred solo, "Consider the Lilies," waa well rendered by Mrs. Foster*. "The Virgin's Lullaby" was given with much feeling by Miss Hum at the evening service. The Rev. J. A. Wilson, 8.A., vicar of Foxton, intoned the services. The Rev. P. W. Clarkson read the lessons. After the afternoon service tha ladiets of St. Margaret's Guild providetl refreshments in the Sunday schoolroom. Miss Aldridge presided afc the organ. Sunday, the 10th, was another cold, bleak day, but still the attendances were lar,ge. Thirteen communicants attended the Holy Communion *iervice at 8 a.m., the celebrant being the Yen. Archdeacon Fancourt, assisted: by the Rev. P. W. Clai'kaon. The Archdeacon preached at the 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. services, the R«v. Clarkson preaching at the 2.30 p.m. service. The saci-ed solos, "Oalvary" and "The Song of Sleem " were well rendered by Messrs. Leak and Coulter at the 2.30 and 7 services', respectively. Eight pounds were taken at the offertories, which goes towards the ohurch funds.
