Despite the pouring' rain last evening, the Opera House was comfortably filled on the occasion of the second appearance of. Pollard's Opera Company. That such a large number of people, should venture out in such weather is sufficient (proof of the popularity of the Pollards. The jpiece chosen for production was the delightful opera "Patience," and it was produced in a highly successful manner. The veiy tuneful musrilc with which) the opera abounds was pleasingly rendered, while the acting !and staging were decidedly good. Miss Connie Buttle rilled the title role, and she did so very Her singing was much appreciated, and on several occasions she was forced! to respond to encores. Misa Alice Edgar made a very good Lady Jane, and her efforts were loudly i&piplaudted. Miss Nellie Wilson made a very lively Lady Angela, while the roles of Lady So]pfaie and Lady Ella were filled by Mieses Agnes Smith and Jessie Ramsay. The Reginald Buntihorna of Mr. W. S. Percy was very gopid, and he was time after time encored. As Archibald GJ-rosvernor, Buntkwne's rival, Mr. D. O'Connor filled the role to perfection, his singing being particularly good. Mr. J. Ralston, as Cb]on# Oalverley, Mi*. H. Quealey an Major Murgatroyd, • and Mr. 0. Carter as Lieutenant the Duke of Constable, each assisted materially towards the success of the opera. Throughout the piece the solos and concerted pieces were well rendered, the choruses being particularly good. Altogether, "Patience" was _a muceess, and tlie Pollards are to be congratulated on the production.

This afternoon a matinee performance will be given, when, a.t the request of many who were unable to gadn admittance icxn Thursday evening, Mr. Pollard will send the "Messenger Boy" once more on his trip to Cairo. TW evening tllie ever-popular comic apena, "The Gondoliers," will be (presented. The fame of "The Gondoliers" is sufficient to ensure a crowded house.
