The ordinary, manthly meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was held last evening, Mr. G. S Bridge (chairman) presiding. . Eltham.—From Committee, re inquiry ; concerning expulsion of pupil; reported •tlhat matters had been satisfactorily settled. Leave of Absence.—The following were granted leave to attend examinations : — H. Mclntyre t(Kimbolton), H. H. Richardson (Makino road), Mary Neilson (Mangaonciho), and H. R. Bowatcr (Kawhatau). Sick leave was granted' to A. M. Gould (College street), G. E. Watts (Feilding), E. O'DonneM' (Terrace End). GENERAL BUSINoSS. Mount Stewart.—From W. T. Bowater, re distance of children from school. It was decided to reply that as there are good roads no special provision was necessary. Campbell Street (Palmerston North). — From Committee, re enlargement of school; referred to Building Committee. Himitangi.—Application for establishment of school at Himitangi, Orotua Downs; granted. Makino Road.—From Committee re enlargement oif school; referred to Building Committee. Palmerston Nortlb.—From Education Department, re grant of £760 for Technical School at Palmerstoai North; pSans to be prepared and tenders called. Advertising.—Mr. J. W. Baker gave notice to move to the effect that in. future advertising for applications for small appointments (up .a £80) be left to th© discretion of the executive. Selection of Teachers. Mr. Lethbridge gave notice of motion .to rescind existing motion as to the sending in to Committees of selected names of applicants for appointment, with a view to providing! that in future the names of all applicants be sent on to Committees for selection.
