It was resolved to protest against co-operative labour on Government or local bodies' works as. being too costly. It was j further resolved to ta*e steps to secure a reduction in the freight on live stock by rail to Canterbury, and shortening the time of transit. It was stated that the freight was the same as 20 years ago—namely, £6 per track.
