GISBORNE., September 13. The annual football match Hawke's Bay v. Poverty Bay was played at Gisborne to-day, and was worn by Poverty Bay by IJ. points to 4. The game throughout was fast and exciting, the local 'men, maintaining the advantage - throughout. In the first spell Newtxm scored a. try for the home team, and! Baiftrar kicked) ai fine goal from a, mark for the visitors. Hatae and Johnson scored tries fotr Poverty Bay in the secotad spell, one of which Williams converted, the gama ending 11 to 4. Rain set in -after the commencement of the sieooudf' 8j?|ell, rendering- the ground and the ball greasy. Considering the conditions, the display was of a higli order. The excitement of the spectators was kept at concert. The attendance was over a thousand. The visitors will be entertained at dinner ta-ni,ght, andl leave for home to-morroy.
