' THE TIMARU. Per Press Association. OHRLSTCRURLH. September 12. The barque Thruiru, overdue at Kaipara., is owned by Turn bull aud Co., of Clnistchuich, and is in the command of Captain Johnson, who lias 8 years' experience in New Zealand waters.

Besides ballast, the barque .carries 20 tons of pioduce, making 160 tons altogether. The Timaru is an exceedingly stiff vessel, and the owners do not think any accident has happened through the ballast shifting.

'Sihe was seen on August 21st, when five days out from Lyttelton, by the Elverland and the Morning Light 35 miles south-east of Cape Campbell.

A north-west gale sprang up on the 24th> and the Tima-ru Avas seen by the Morning Light about ten miles east of Kaikoura Peninsula. The wind from the Friday till the Sunday had been exceptionally heavy, with a high sea, and the Timaru apparently rode out the gale all light. A southerly breeze then sprang up, with thick weather, and the two vessels ran before it, the Timaru being lost sight of, and the Morning Light {bound for Waitapn) was off Cape Campbell at midnight, when the wind was light and the weather clear.

There has been no rough weather since, and as the Timaru came through" the heavy gale without mishap, there appears to be no reason to suppose that the shifting of the ballast has been the cause of the vessel's non-arrival.

The Elverland, which was in company with the Timaru and ttte Morning Light off Cape Campbell on the 21st, anchored off Cloudy Bay, and arrived at Kaipara an the 2nu ult.
