A LICENSING CASE.

WELLINGTON, 12. At the Magistrate's Court to-day F. Macfarland was charged with selling liquor after 11 p.m. The case arose oufc of a banquet given at the Hotel Cecil, of which t~e defendant is licensee, to the delegates from other cities to the Employers' Association Conference. The .case was dismissed, $he evidence being inconclusive, but the Magistrate remarked that there appeared to be a good deal of misapprehension among publicans aa to their liability in such cases.
