A DISTURBING ELEMENT.
GREYMOUTH, September 9.
A good many months ago all the Chinese corpses on the Coast were exhumed, and are now stored in an iron shed near the Greymouth Cemetery. It was expected that they would have removed some time ago. There is a general feeling of uneasiness at the thought of them remaining during the coming summer months, as a good many of the bodies had not been long interred. There are a good number of dwellings in close proximity to the chamel house, wherein are now stored the remains of over 150 Chinese bodies. At the time of the "resurrection" the authorities here protested strongly, but were assured by the Colonial Secretary that every precaution would be taken.
